Perchè voglio annunciare il vangelo?

Gesù, perchè voglio evangelizzare, annunciare la Buona Novella del Regno?
Perché voglio dedicare tutta la mia vita a diffondere il tuo Vangelo fino ai confini della Terra?
Perché voglio predicare il Vangelo di Gesù di Nazareth e consacrare me stesso alla preghiera e al Ministero della Parola?
Perché evangelizzare e a che pro?

Perché io voglio portare il lieto annunzio ai miseri, fasciare le piaghe dei cuori spezzati, proclamare la libertà degli schiavi, la scarcerazione dei prigionieri... (Is 61, 1) Così che i ciechi ricuperino la vista, gli storpi camminino, i lebbrosi siano guariti, i sordi riacquistino l'udito, i morti risuscitino, ai poveri sia predicata la buona novella... (Mt 11,5)

Perché desidero cambiare l'odio in amore, la tristezza in gioia, l'angoscia e la disperazione in ottimismo e speranza, la malattia e la morte in vita e resurrezione. Perché sono ansioso di vedere la luce sorgere sui visi adombrati, e sui tanto numerosi cuori afflitti che giacciono all'ombra della morte. Perché voglio dare una direzione e un significato alle tante vite paralizzate, vite annoiate, in letargo, piene di dubbi e di sospetti, vuote e rotte da complessi disabilitanti.
Perché vedo il bisogno urgente che il Vangelo raggiunga i confini della terra; per rompere le catene degli schiavi, rotti e oppressi da mancanza di cultura, fede, persino cibo e riparo.

Io voglio iniettare il mio stesso sangue in quelli che, in questo delirio, rinunciano alla vita e si seppelliscono vivi con le loro stesse mani. E gridare a tutti loro con la voce potente del Vangelo: "Alzati e cammina [vivi]!"
Sento una passione di dare il Vangelo, vivo e crudo, ai giovani inquieti e ribelli, i quali, insoddisfatti e non disposti a conformarsi, protestano contro ogni cosa. Voglio dar loro la spada della Verità come loro difesa e corazza. E a quelli tra loro che rinunciano alla vita voglio gridare con la voce potente del Vangelo:"Giovane, alzati!". Un bel paesaggio è pronto per nascere, orizzonti radianti luce e speranza, nuovi cieli e nuova terra, non appena la Buona Novella avrà raggiunto questi giovani e informato le loro vite.

Io credo sinceramente che non sia nè una fantasia nè una riflessione distante, dal momento che vedo i campi maturi per il raccolto.
Perché evangelizzare?

Perché desidero che le famiglie godano il calore di una casa piena d'amore, piuttosto che l'atmosfera da cimitero, priva ormai finanche delle braci morenti di un amore creativo e fruttifero, di intimità, affetto, cura reciproca, spontaneità e gioia.
Non posso smettere di proclamare la Buona Novella della liberazione, per salvare le vite di milioni di bambini che vedo distrutte e annullate non appena vedono la luce o addirittura mentre ancora giacciono nel grembo materno.
Sono obbligato ad annunciare la Buona Novella del Regno di Dio, Regno di pace e giustizia, Regno di vita e amore, a fermare la guerra senza tregua tra razze e nazioni, i dolorosi conflitti tra figli e genitori.
Allora, i loro figli saranno come virgulti d'ulivo intorno alla loro mensa, e i loro cuori traboccherano di maggior gioia di quando abbondano vino e frumento. Sento il bisogno di dare la mia vita e versare il mio sangue per tutte le persone allo stesso modo, senza distinzioni di sesso, razza e ceto sociale.

Gesù, soltanto il tuo Vangelo possiede la forza e il potere necessari a trasformare la miseria che oggi corrompe questi ambienti nell'energia che genera vita abbondante. Io so che col Vangelo la luce del giorno penetrerà in molte casa in precedenza buie.

Ecco perché posso affermare, senza tema di presunzione, o che si tratti di una teoria astratta e irragionevole, che evangelizzare è per me un dovere e un diritto, una gioia e una dedizione completa e ormai irreversibile, poichè mi sarebbe impossibile lasciarla: sarebbe per me come rinunciare a vivere e rinunciare al fatto che i miei fratelli e le mie sorelle possano avere vita e averla pienamente.
Accompagnami, Maria, con il tuo più tenero, materno amore, così che la mia consacrazione alla Parola di Dio vivente e il mio predicarla sia una continua propagazione della Vita di Dio per tutte le generazioni.

WHY DO I WANT TO EVANGELISE?

Jesus, why do I want to evangelise, to announce the Good News of the Kingdom? Why do I want to dedicate the whole of my life to spread your Gospel to the ends of the earth? Why do I want to preach the Gospel of Jesus of Nazareth and consecrate myself to prayer and the Ministry of the Word?

Why evangelise, and for what?

Because I want to “...to bring the news to the afflicted, to soothe the broken-hearted,to proclaim liberty to captives, release to those in prison...” (Is 61:1-2). So that “the blind see again, and the lame walk,those suffering from virulent skin-diseases are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised to lifeand the good news is proclaimed to the poor...” (Mt 11:4-6).

Because I long to change hate into love, sadness into joy, anguish and despair into optimism and hope, sickness and death into life and resurrection. Because I am eager to see light dawn on gloomy faces, and into so many mournful hearts that lie in the shadow of death. Because I want to give direction and meaning to so many paralysed lives, lives that are bored and lethargic, with doubts and suspicions, empty and broken by disabling complexes.

Because I see the urgent need for the Gospel to reach to the ends of the earth; to break the chains of those enslaved, crushed and oppressed by lack of culture, faith, even food and shelter. I want to inject with my own blood those who, in this delirium, renounce life and bury themselves alive.

And shout to them all with the powerful voice of the Gospel “Get up and live!” I feel a passion to give the Gospel, alive and raw, to restless and rebellious young people who, dissatisfied and unconforming, protest against everything. I want to give them the sword of the Truth as their defence and armour.

And to those of them, who renounce on life I want to shout with the powerful voice of the Gospel “Young person, get up!”

A beautiful landscape is ready to be born, horizons radiant with light and hope, a new heaven and a new earth, when the Good News reaches this youth and informs their lives.

I sincerely believe that it is not a fantasy nor a distant contemplation seeing the fields ripen for the harvest.
Why evangelise?

Because I long for families to enjoy the warmth of a loving home, instead of the atmosphere almost of a cemetery, without even the embers of a fruitful and creative love, intimacy, affection, care, spontaneity and joy.

I can't stop proclaiming the Good News of liberation in order to save the lives of millions of children whose lives I see broken and disintegrated as soon as they open their eyes to the light or even in the very womb of their mothers.
I am compelled to announce the Good News of the Kingdom of God, Kingdom of peace and justice, Kingdom of life and love, to stop the relentless war between nations and races, the painful conflicts between children and parents. Then, their children would be like “new olive shoots around their table” (Ps 128:3), and their hearts would “overflow with more joy than for abundant corn and new wine” (Ps 4:8).
I feel the need to give my life and pour out my blood for all people equally, regardless of sex, race and social condition.

Jesus, only your Gospel possesses the strength and power necessary to transform the misery that today corrupts these environments into the energy which generates abundant life. I know that with the Gospel the light of day will penetrate many homes which were in darkness.

That's why I can say, without any fear of being pretentious or of it being an abstract or unreasonable theory, that evangelising is for me a duty and a right, a joy and a complete and now irreversible dedication, as impossible for me to leave, as it would be for me to renounce living and renounce the fact that my brothers and sisters may have life and have it to the full.

Accompany me, Mary, with your most tender, motherly love, so that my consecration to the living Word of God and my preaching of it may be a continual propagation of God’s Life for all generations.
